Updated: Jun 18

Whether its your first visit to Shepherd's Landscape Supply and Nursery or your 100th, we have a few quick tips that will ensure that you get the most for your time and money as a DIY homeowner.

1. CHOOSE YOUR OUTFIT

We're not worried so much about fashion as we are function. Depending on when you visit, it may be muddy, dusty or dripping wet, so we recommend wearing clothing and shoes that you don't mind getting a little dirty. If it's extra sunny and warm, don't forget a hat and clothing that covers your shoulders to avoid sunburn!

2. BRING YOUR LANDSCAPER

Did you landscaper send you to pick your own plants or are you working alongside them? Bring them with! Not only will they be a wealth of knowledge and sage advice, but you can only take advantage of wholesale pricing when a professional landscaper is shopping with you. Also, if they will be picking up your order, then they need to be present for selection and tagging to save everyone time!

3. CLEAR YOUR SCHEDULE

Visits and tours of the nursery can take some time, especially if this is your first official visit! We recommend keeping your schedule clear the day of your visit to maximize your time with us and to allow yourself plenty of time to make your selections rush free.

4. PLAN YOUR RIDE ACCORDINGLY

Shopping for some trees or other large plants? A truck is a must! While we will do our best to fit your purchases in your car, we recommend coming with a vehicle that has plenty of space to securely transport your new plants to their new home. Don't have access to a truck or just too much to load? We offer delivery services for a fee to save you the hassle!

5. GOOD THINGS TAKE TIME

If you're needing something specific that we don't regularly stock, good news! We can special order just about anything your landscape might need. Just a heads up that all special orders take at minimum two weeks to be received, so best to plan ahead if you can.
